A public beta of Echofon for Windows is now available. This has been a popular Twitter client on other platforms like iOS and OS X, so it’s great to see an option like this come to Windows with such a native, clean design.

Cancel scrolling in Windows

If you start scrolling a page by dragging a scroll bar, you can get back to the exact position you started scrolling from by moving the mouse away from the scroll bar. Useful to quickly glance over other parts of the document and get back to the line you’re reading.

A keyboard shortcut to quickly rename files in Windows Explorer

Once you select a file or folder in Windows Explorer, you can hit F2 to quickly edit the item’s name. If you have selected multiple items, though, only the first one will get the renaming treatment.

This should work in Windows XP, Vista, and 7.

For some time, CloudApp has only had Mac and iOS clients. FluffyApp finally brings this handy service to Windows.

When it loses focus, the Zune Desktop Software 4.0 fades out the now playing information (track time, name, artist, and so on). Instead, a dynamic collage features photos, stats, and other information about the artist. When one moves the mouse back to the software, the details are faded back in. In this clip, the mouse is immediately moved away from the software, and returns (in the top right corner) around 0:16.
